Three-Dimensional Films Shown Today
Moviegoers attend the theater for one major reason -- ESCAPE. Escape from what? It is every man’s natural desire to become involved in the affairs of other people. In this way he is able to put aside his own problems and the disenchantment with his everyday existence. The satisfaction he derives from a movie, depends directly upon how involved he becomes in the lives of the people whom he is watching. The key word is INVOLVEMENT. Sound movies replaced silent movies because they were more real, and they enhanced the viewing experience. For the same reason, color movies replaced their black-and-white counterparts. Wide screen movies replaced square screen movies.
3-D came upon the scene in the 1950’s, and these films were popular for a time. The technology soon faded away. although they enhanced viewing experience, they were distracting because they caused eyestrain and headaches. Viewers blamed the glasses. Also, 3-D scenes did not look real. Now, 3-D movies are popular once again. Most major movies are now filmed both in 2-D and 3-D.
Enter Holographic Films
Movies made using the Quantum Optics Holophoto™ Three-Dimensional Process do not require the audience to wear special glasses. Viewers will not experience eyestrain or headaches. Holophoto™ 3-dimensional movies look absolutely real. A viewer may even look around objects to see what is behind. Holophoto™ 3-dimensional movies will enhance the viewing experience and increase audience involvement.
Any theater may be converted to show Holophoto™ 3-dimensional movies. Even IMAX theaters can show these movies. The Quantum Optics Holophoto™ Three-Dimensional Motion Picture Process uses digital transmission from a special computer to a special screen. The existing screen in a movie theater would be replaced by a Holophoto™ screen, and the projector would be replaced by a special purpose computer. The Holophoto™ Process allows display of both 3-dimensional movies and conventional 2-dimensional movies
Holographic Television
The Quantum Optics Holophoto™ Three-Dimensional Motion Picture Process uses digital transmission. Therefore, a Holophoto™ movie screen is really a special type of television set. Holophoto™ television sets can be made for home entertainment. Holographic programming using this process requires much more bandwidth than current television technology provides. Broadcasting Holophoto™ programming over the airwaves or over copper cable wires is not feasible. However, the use of fiber optic cables makes transmission of holographic TV programs possible.
The main problem will lie in Federal regulation of TV transmission. Currently, the FCC only controls television broadcasting over airwaves. It does not control cable transmission. However, the Federal Government wants to control high-definition television standards as well as current 3-D television standards. Because Holophoto™ programming requires greater bandwidth than current program transmission, we cannot predict what federal involvement will occur, if any.
However, pre-packaged holographic movies, would be available using conventional or streamed media, to be shown on Holophoto™ television sets. |
